PROPS AND COSTUMES

This is the planning for all of the props and costumes I will need for my video.

The main female protagonist.


The image I imagine for my female role is very surreal and mysterious, although I want my audience to be able to see that she is innocent.
I will need white face paint as this will make her appearance more unusual and striking. The next is too make her hair white. Her innocense will be represented through her angelic appearance, dressed all in white. I had to purchase some of the props from the internet as I could not find them locally.

For her outfit I am wrapping an old sheet around her creating an uneven ripped dress. She will have strong white eye make up on and red lips.

I will then hang paper butterflies on her, again enhancing the surreal effect. Also purchasing contact lenses to create a dream like atmosphere to the video.

The Judges.

The judges costumes are relatively simple.

Judge One:

• A blazer
• A silk shirt
• A bodycon skirt
• Tights
• Brogues
• Hair is down

Judge Two:

• A blazer
• A white shirt
• Black Trousers
• Hair in a high bun

Judge Three:

• A blazer
• A smart dress
• Tights
• Hair is plaited

I want all three judges to be similar but in slightly varying costume, allowing the audience to differentiate the characters as they are all played by the same actress.

Other Rappers.

For the extra rappers in my video I want to have a simple costume, just baggy casual clothes.

The main male protagonist.

My male protagonist is going to match the female protagonist. He will have white hair, white eye make up and will be fully painted white. He will be dressed in white as well and I will paint black grafitti on him.

22. THE CAST

CORINNA HARRISON

Corinna will be playing the part of the main female protagonist in my video, the girl who sings the chorus. I feel she is perfect for the surreal character I envision. She is highly skilled in acting, taking and A Level in theatre studies and has experience in performing in amatur music videos in the past. She also has a very innocent look about her, which is important for her character because the audience needs to automatically know she is not evil, despite her 'strange' actions.

SOPHIE THOMPSON


Sophie Thompson, aged 18 and from Edinburgh will be acting the judges. I wanted someone who could act superior and have many different looks, and as Sophie takes A Level drama and can act the part, I casted her. I want her to act all of the judges, having different hairstyles and clothes for each one. This will add to the surrealness of the video and show how it is all part of the imagination.

 

ROB LUKE

I casted Rob Luke as the main male protagonist, the rapper. I felt he could act the character well and gave off a slightly creepy, surreal energy. He also fits the image of the character that I have in my head. Also being an A grade A Level actor, Rob is completely capable of being this part.

21. LOCATIONS

                                   The locations of my video are all around the school campus.

The forest in the school is thick and mysterious. I will film all around and in the forest  and by the lake. These setting are very dark and surreal, especially when covered in snow. I will hopefully be filming as it snows but due to the unpredictable weather, I will just have to hope. If my settings are covered in a blanket of white frost or snow, it will add to my colour theme and make everything blend in.

SILENCE

An extreme long shot of the woods before the music starts.

INSTRUMENTAL

As the music starts an extreme close up of someones hand turning a CD player on.

INSTRUMENTAL

A long shot now of the same woods scene.

INSTRUMENTAL

An establishing shot of an olds sport hall.

MUSIC ESCALATES

As the music escalates another close up of the stereo is shown.

INSTRUMENTAL

It then shows a birds eye 

view of the judges setting up and getting ready.

AS the first chorus starts a panoramic shot of a woman dressed in white singing, with paper butterflies hanging from her.

The main male protagonist is shown by a match on action enter of the room. 

It then shows him rapping the first part of the first verse to the judges in a point of view shot

GO NINJA GO

A mid shot of the butterfly girl in the forest.

NO CUTTING DOWN, ANYONE IN MY PATH...

A long shot of of the main male protagonist rapping.

KILLING MY FOES LIKE...

Several quick jump cuts of other rappers trying out in the audition.

As the chorus starts again, a zooming from different angles as she climbs through the trees.

THIS IS LIKE, THE COOLEST SONG I EVER HEARD...

A lens effect and a low angle shot as the rapper disrupts the auditions.

I AM YOUR BUTTERFLY

This shot follows the previous one and they take turn, one after the other several times.

INSTRUMENTAL

As the last instrumental is playing and the music is fading out, a zooming out to an extreme long shot of the forest is show.

INSTRUMENTAL TO SILENCE

The final shot is a close up of a hand turning the stereo off, zooming in until fading to black.
